'Breathwork is the use of Breath Awareness and Conscious Breathing for healing and growth, personal awakening and transformation in spirit, mind and body.'
Dan Brule
As you go about your daily life, many of us unlearn our natural breathing practice. You may breathe on average between 21,000 – 30,000 breaths a day. However, to breathe optimally and get the most out of this precious resource, you could be breathing between 6,000 to 12,000 breaths a day instead.
Connecting to your breath and setting up a daily practice, of as little as 10 minutes a day, could change the way you feel, live, connect to yourself and others and support your overall well-being. The breath is the only part of the autonomic nervous system that we have control off and which is able to potentially lower blood pressure, improve digestion, manage PMS and migraine symptoms, your posture and assist with mental illness, to name a few.
I run 1:1 and group workshops helping you understand the power of your own breath and teach you simple breathwork practices to integrate into your daily life.
Each session lasts for 60 minutes and over a course of 4-6 sessions, we go back to basics and learn up to 20 different breathing practices, which will become part of your daily well-being toolkit.
Breathwork coaching sessions can be held in person or on-line.
Benefits of breathwork coaching include:
- Helps release stress and anxiety and supports us to tolerate difficult emotions and situations
- Increases energy levels, focus and vitality
- Strengthens the lungs and helps with management of lung illnesses such as asthma
- Assists with pain management including chronic pain
- Helps us become embodied and step into the present moment
- Stimulates the vagus nerve, our social engagement system
- Improves digestion
- Improves sleep
ANSWERS & QUESTIONS
What happens during a session?
During a breathwork session, I will guide you through specific breathing exercises that may involve controlled inhalation, exhalation, and holding the breath. I will support you in maintaining the rhythm, and you may be asked to breathe in specific patterns or tempos. You might experience different sensations like tingling, warmth, or emotional release.
Can breathwork help with stress or anxiety?
Yes, breathwork is an extremely powerful tool for reducing stress and anxiety. In fact it been named by many as the biggest secret life hack. By focusing on the breath, you activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps calm the body and mind. Regular breathwork practice can help manage stress, improve emotional resilience, and reduce anxiety levels over time.
How long does a breathwork session last?
Breathwork sessions typically last between 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the type of breathwork being practiced and the structure of the session. Some sessions may include guided meditation or integration time afterward.
Adolescence brings with it many challenges. However, we are currently experiencing a huge spike in teenage mental health issues. Depression, anxiety and behavioural disorders are among the leading causes of illness and disability among adolescents. Adolescents with mental health conditions are particularly vulnerable to social exclusion, discrimination, stigma (affecting readiness to seek help), educational difficulties, risk-taking behaviours and physical ill-health.
Teenagers are also facing an increasing amount of pressure from academic expectations. Exam stress is particularly common, with many teens experiencing difficulty managing the overwhelming feelings that come with schoolwork and exams. These challenges can manifest in poor sleep, difficulty concentrating, mood swings, and even physical symptoms like headaches or stomach aches. If left unmanaged, stress can lead to burnout or more severe mental health concerns.
Private 1:1 sessions - Sessions are generally carried out online and last for 30 minutes. However if required. sessions can be lengthened to 45 - 60 mins.
In School - 1:1, small group or whole class sessions in school can also be arranged.
How teenagers can benefit from regular breathwork practice
Reduction in anxiety
Breathwork offers a practical, accessible tool for teenagers to manage anxiety. Regular practice helps calm the mind, allowing teens to regain control over their emotions and reactions during stressful situations. Deep, rhythmic breathing has been shown to reduce cortisol levels, which can lower feelings of anxiety and panic
Enhancing focus and concentration
One of the key benefits of breathwork is its ability to bring the mind into the present moment. For teenagers dealing with exam stress, this can be especially helpful. Breathwork can clear mental clutter, improving focus and enhancing cognitive function. This helps teens stay present and centered, making it easier to retain information and perform well during tests.
Improving emotional regulation
Teenagers often struggle to manage their emotions due to hormonal changes and external pressures. Breathwork can help them develop a greater sense of self-awareness and emotional balance. By practicing mindful breathing, teens learn to pause and respond thoughtfully to challenging emotions rather than reacting impulsively.
Boosting sleep quality
Anxiety and stress can often lead to difficulty falling or staying asleep, which in turn impacts a teenager's performance in school and overall well-being. Breathwork, particularly techniques focused on relaxation, can promote better sleep by calming the nervous system and quieting the mind before bed.
Encouraging mind-body connection
Breathwork promotes mindfulness and a deeper connection between the mind and body. This awareness can help teens recognize the early signs of stress and anxiety in their bodies, allowing them to respond proactively before these feelings escalate.

We signed up for 6 weekly breathwork sessions for my 16 year old son. He was suffering from anxiety due to the pressures of GSCEs. We saw a difference after just 2 sessions and by the end of the course he had a number of practices that he was able to use when the pressure got too much. I can't recommend Natasha enough! Parent 2024
Natasha engaged so well with my daughter. She has a very caring way about her and was able to impart a number of techniques which my daughter now uses when feeling overwhelmed. Parent 2024
